Norwood Airport SRE and Administration Building

A small grassy hillside overlooking the airfield entrance, ragged in its definition but popular among the community, provides a broader meaning for the design of the utilitarian Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) building. Carved into the hillside, the building firmly establishes a spatial edge without impacting view corridors, and provides needed definition to a newly conceived public park. The tiered landscape engages the building on three sides, creating an interplay with the building facades where the traditional notions of front, back, entry and side are reconsidered in a manner analogous to an Egyptian relief.
