Nantucket Memorial Airport ARFF Facility
New Construction

A building with a singular mission: to optimize response to an airport emergency. This clarity of purpose for the building and its occupants drove the design process. Every element of the 13,000 sq. ft. two-story building: rooms, sightlines, orientation, material selection and placement, is considered independently and in aggregate as a means to reduce response time. These elements, optimized for their critical function, are further informed by the character and values of the island community. The resultant architectural language emphasizes simplicity of form, sustainability and functional purpose.
