UConn’s Sky High Dome Repairs

The University of Connecticut’s Gampel Pavilion improvements are taking place over a hundred feet in the air as workers re-cover the interior face of the triangular ceiling panels, and provide new gaskets and sealant at the dome exterior. Workers propelling along its surface can be seen from both outside and inside the building as they hover around panels to replace.

There are a total of 2,100 panels to be removed and repaired by a crew of 40, who can complete anywhere from 35 to 40 panels a day. Other improvements to Gampel include reconfiguration of the catwalk support cables, and installation of conduit for future AV infrastructure.

As repairs progress, both the crew and campus ready themselves for project completion in time for the opening game of the 2017-2018 basketball season.
