A Renovated Bathhouse + Renewed Community Resource

With the completion of the bathhouse this summer, the transformation of Clougherty Pool is now complete. The renovation extends well beyond the pools themselves, creating a more accessible and welcoming facility designed to support the many ways the Boston community uses this neighborhood resource.

Inside, bold color and oversized graphics help make circulation and wayfinding clear and intuitive. New locker facilities, an elevator, community space, concessions, and other accessibility improvements expand who the building can serve and how it can be used. Above, a new roof terrace provides another place to gather, relax, and take in the surrounding park.

Together with the pools completed in the first phase, the renewed bathhouse brings new life and functionality to a community fixture that has served Charlestown since 1949.

A big thank you to our project partners Weston & Sampson, J&J Contractors, Inc, L.A. Fuess Partners, IMEG, and Nitsch Engineering for helping bring this project to life.
