Renovation and Addition

FM designed this 50,000 SF terminal addition which more than doubles the size of the airport and increases its capacity to 5 gates. The project includes renovating the existing 30,000 SF terminal, expanding baggage handling, an enhanced meeter/greeter space, new holdroom and concessions/seating, and future space planning to accommodate additional security lanes and outgoing baggage scanning equipment expansion. The landside design emphasizes a new grand entrance, easily accessible by the onsite parking.

The passenger experience incorporates the airport’s surroundings with vertical circulation leading to expansive mountain views from the upper level holdroom. The materiality palette celebrates the nearby sandstone, speaking to the textures and colors found in the natural landscape. Custom perforated metal panels emulate rock striations as an ode to St. George, while providing shading in addition to visual interest to enhance passenger experience.
