Construction is taking shape at the Wells Rail Station in Maine, where mass timber serves as a defining part of the building’s structural system.

The engineered wood structure includes cross-laminated timber (CLT) walls and roof panels supported by glulam beams, ledgers, and columns. Coordinating these exposed structural components with the station’s building systems has required careful detailing and close collaboration across the project team. The result is a station that is both highly functional and expressive, allowing the structure itself to become an important part of the architectural character.
