MCCA Thomas M. Menino Convention and Exhibition Center
Café Renovation

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) engaged FM to renovate the North Lobby café at the Thomas M. Menino Convention and Exhibition Center (MCEC), transforming it into a grab-and-go café, with full-service sandwiches, soups, and a premium coffee bar, complete with bar seating against the curtainwall windows. Additional table seating was added in the adjacent alcove, offering guests a comfortable space to relax, dine, and connect.

The renovation included all-new interior finishes, upgraded food-service equipment, and reconfigured mechanical, electrical, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems to support the reimagined layout. The design emphasizes efficiency and comfort, incorporating modern amenities such as convenient charging stations, and a streamlined, technology-assisted, checkout experience.

FM collaborated with Levy Restaurants, MCCA’s catering manager, to meet their goals of expanding food options, elevating the guest experience, and increasing revenue for both the operator (Levy) and the MCCA.

The resourceful substitution of materials and finishes decreased overall costs without reducing the durability, functionality, or aesthetics.
